Science-Based Naturopathic Medicine in Newmarket

What Is Naturopathic Treatment?

At Newmarket Health and Wellness Center, we focus on holistic health care solutions. Our team of experienced, registered naturopathic doctors will work closely with you (and, if needed, with your current practitioner) to identify the root cause of your pain or disease and effectively address it. We guarantee that you’ll get a custom treatment plan and a personalized approach adjusted to your specific needs.

Naturopathic treatment combines and heals the physical, mental, and emotional aspects of your body. It not only identifies the source of the disease and cures it, but also helps to activate your natural body’s abilities to heal itself. Thus, naturopathic medicine promotes long-lasting health and well-being with the help of:
Botanical (herbal) medicines
Dietary and lifestyle modifications
Vitamin, mineral, and other nutritional supplements
Homeopathy
“Hands-on” therapies such as Massage Therapy
Instead of quick fixes, naturopathic doctors emphasize the preventative nature of this medicine and focus on treating the body as a whole. From 1895 (the first time Dr. John Scheel introduced the term “Naturopathy” or “natural healing” from the Latin root “natura” (birth) and Greek root “pathos” (suffering)) and up to today, naturopathic methods offer non-invasive, yet effective ways to treat a wide range of acute and chronic conditions in all ages and genders.

Benefits of Naturopathic Care for the Whole Family

Naturopathic treatment is often an effective addition to conventional treatment of many health concerns. It not only addresses numerous current health concerns but also educates the patient to promote long-lasting effects, such as increased energy and improved self-confidence. What else makes naturopathic medicine the right choice for you?

Holistic Treatment

As one of the main principles of naturopathy states, “treat the whole person”. That’s why naturopathic doctors at our clinic carefully investigate your state to find the root cause of your problems and eliminate them completely.

Non-Invasive Methods

Naturopathy uses a wide range of tools, but none of them is a scalpel. Let the power of nature help you restore inner balance and feel the much-needed energy to light the spark of rational hope in you.

Preventative Measures

Even if you think you’re feeling “fine” right now, it may not last forever. Naturopathy helps restore the optimal level of the immune system and promote overall health, while also encouraging self-responsibility, so your body will restore itself more effectively long after your treatment is over.

Boosted Wellbeing

Naturopathic treatment in our clinic combines traditional and modern approaches to ensure relief from your condition. As naturopathy is a holistic medicine, while treating one problem, there’s a great chance you’ll forget about others as well, and will feel your best. For example, chronic joint pain treatment often leads to weight loss, which in turn results in enhanced energy and improved health.

I decided to go here for pelvic floor therapy as I’m currently pregnant with my first. The pelvic floor therapist I worked with was amazing! She took the time to explain everything thoroughly and I felt so empowered! I believe I had 4 classes starting around 20 weeks learning about kegels. They were able to process all payments through my insurance with ease! I am looking forward to going back for perineal massages! Highly recommend!

I cannot say enough good things about Newmarket Health & Wellness Center Inc. They went above and beyond in caring for my autistic son during his hyperbaric chamber therapy. Tim was incredibly kind and accommodating to his needs, making the experience smooth and stress-free.

I regret that I can’t recall the name of his partner — a lovely woman from India (I believe her name is Anita or Rosita) — but she was also absolutely amazing! Both of them made the whole process so comfortable and positive for my 5-year-old.

We completed half of the treatment and are already planning to return for the second half. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for genuine care and professionalism.

Naturopathy Service in Newmarket FAQ

  • How often should I visit a naturopath?

The frequency of your visits to a naturopath usually depends on the severity of your health concerns. Initially, you may need several sessions per month to thoroughly assess your health and develop an optimal treatment plan. As your health improves, you’ll be able to reduce the number of consultations and schedule only follow-up appointments to maintain your wellness.

  • How much does it cost to see a naturopathic doctor in Newmarket?

The cost of naturopathic medicine depends on several factors, including the doctor’s experience, the therapies required, personal needs, and others. Prices start from $150 per consultation. Check our price list to learn more.

  • Does OHIP cover naturopathic doctors?

Naturopathic treatment is considered a private service in the province of Ontario. That’s why public health care fees don’t cover it. However, Extended health (or private) insurance often covers the treatment of licensed naturopathic doctors. Book a free consultation today to learn more about the financing and coverage options we offer.

  • Do naturopathic doctors require training and registration?

Of course! Just like any other medical specialist, naturopathic doctors undergo an extended postsecondary education program (minimum of 7 years – 3 years of pre-med postsecondary education and 4 years of full-time study at an approved college of Naturopathic Medicine, like the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto). They usually enter a naturopathic college or medical school to study biology and chemistry (e.g., organic chemistry and biochemistry).

During their education, naturopaths also complete clinical rotations and treat patients under the supervision of licensed NDs. Graduates from an accredited naturopathic college receive the designation Naturopathic Doctor (ND) and are required to undergo annual registration with the licensing body.

The final test for future licensed specialists is the Naturopathic Physicians Licensing Examinations (NPLEX). This will allow them to treat patients across Ontario and states across North America. To maintain the registration, our licensed naturopathic doctors also earn continuing education credits on an ongoing basis.

  • Can a naturopath prescribe medication in Canada?

In short, yes, some naturopaths are allowed to prescribe desiccated thyroid (NDT, Erfa) and bio-identical hormones (progesterone and estrogen). It can only be possible if they have completed additional certification.

  • What is the difference between a homeopath and a naturopath?

Unlike the naturopathic holistic approach to treatment, homeopathic specialists are highly trained in only one specific natural form of therapy: homeopathy. They study for less (1-3 years) and base their programs on herbal substances and the principle “like cures like”.
